Cosmic Byte CosmoBuds X-100: A Review

The world of gaming is levelling up and so is the world of gaming equipment manufacturers. Cosmic Byte has been making its mark with some great products. This time, it is the CosmoBuds X-100. These outlandish-looking TWS earbuds ooze a futuristic vibe. They are gaming-centric earbuds and the emphasis on their design is clearly visible. In this review, I will be breaking down all its features and commenting on whether these are worth a shot. Let’s go.

Performance and Build Quality

Build Quality

The way the CosmoBuds X-100 are built, they are meant to display a rugged and mechanical aesthetic, of sorts. Unlike the numerous other TWS earbuds in the market, this pair does not flaunt clean edges and smooth curves. The X-100 product looks like an unfinished product, to be honest. However, I feel that is what the designers were aiming for. The product is all plastic, but it still manages to give a premium touch and feel.

The X-100 buds are IPX5 rated. For those who do not know, IPX5 means that the product is resistant to sprays, splashes, and low-pressure jets. Not so much against dust, though. Therefore, they are good to go for long gaming sessions, workouts, and even the rare case scenario of getting caught up in the rain.

Pairing

Pairing the smartphone with the buds is fairly simple. Once paired, the connection is pretty quick. This can be attributed to Bluetooth V5.3 and Cosmic Byte’s IOP technology (Instant On and Pair).

Ergonomics

In terms of ergonomics, Cosmic byte has aced it. The buds do not feel uncomfortable at all. They get plugged in the ear effortlessly and do not fall away that easily. This can also be due to the fact that the CosmoBuds X-100 are extremely light. I used them even during workouts to test whether they fall off or not during intense movements and they passed with flying colours. The buds did not fly away even during sprints and jump ropes.

Audio Quality

The CosmoBuds can be used in two different modes, i.e., Music Mode and God Mode. Music Mode, as the name suggests, is dedicated to audiophiles and music enthusiasts. Whereas, God Mode is a gaming dedicated mode that is engineered keeping low latency audio in mind. To switch between modes, you’ll need to ‘pinch tap’ on the right earbud three times. The ‘pinch touch’ feature sounded like this great new thing but it turned out to be not that effective. I was switching modes and playing and pausing music with just regular taps on the buds. Last but not least, turning on ‘God Mode’ also turns on LED lights on the earbuds that move in a circular motion.

Now, personally, I found ‘God Mode’ (gaming mode) to be better for both gaming as well as music listening experiences. Overall, the treble is high which is great for audiophiles as instruments can clearly be heard. The Bass is not too strong, which is understandable considering that at the end of the day, these are still gaming earbuds.

The 38 ms low latency claimed by Cosmic Byte stands its ground firmly. After testing it on games such as Valorant and Call of Duty, I came to the conclusion that latency is not an issue at all with the X-100. Hence, a great thing for serious gamers.

Verdict: Is It Worth It?

The Cosmic byte CosmoBuds X-100 offers a nice overall package. Be it the futuristic aesthetic, the ergonomics, or the audio quality which is genuinely good and is well-suited for gaming, the X-100 proved to be an all-rounder product.

Cosmic Byte tried to stand out with the CosmoBuds X-100 and it succeeded. The gaming market is too hot right now with a multitude of options when to gaming earbuds and earphones by introducing a product like the X-100, the brand has gone for the prize.
