Esports In India To Become Rs 1,100 Cr Industry By FY25: FEAI

Amid the ongoing growth of the sector, the Indian esports industry is expected to touch a total of Rs 1,100 crore by financial year (FY) 2025, said the Federation of Electronic Sports Associations of India (FEAI).

The esports body is going to launch a policy paper in India that will outline the system for the development of esports in the country.

The growth in the esports sector will come on the back of cricket as more and more companies are focusing on developing the electronic version of the game, according to the FEAI.

Vaibhav Dange, Founding President, FEAI said, “Esports is definitely poised to be an emerging opportunity for the youth of India. The Government of India has recognized this opportunity and has been very vocal about how online gaming can become a major sporting activity in the country.

He added that we must indeed take heart from this vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has time and again stressed the fact that India should soon lead the global digital gaming sector and develop games inspired by the richness of its culture, for the entire world. 

He, however, said, “To achieve this, the need of the hour is to address the entire ecosystem and define a hybrid model for Esports, including a global outlook with a strong indigenous narrative for our country.”

“We firmly believe that the AVGC sector offers immense potential to employ our youth and infusing growth in this segment will be the cornerstone of an Atmanirbhar Esports ecosystem in the country,” explained Dange.
