Gaming Time Up 45% During  COVID-19 Pandemic: Report

Presently, a total of 22 per cent of users pay for the games which are likely to touch 235 million in 2025. 

Amid the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, which led to movement restrictions in the entire country has resulted in a 45 per cent increase in the time spent by users on gaming, according to the Lumikai Capital and RedSeer report. 

In recent years, India has witnessed sharp growth in the gaming markets and become one of the fastest-growing sectors in the entire world. According to the report, the growth in new paying users is now at over 50 per cent.

The average time a gamer spends on gaming per week surged to 3.6 hours during the second wave as compared to 2.5 hours prior to COVID world. Monthly game downloads have gone up by 50 per cent in the past year, as per the report. 

According to the survey, a total of 30 per cent of gamers said that their usage of games on phones has gone up in the last year. However, it is expected to rise further as well, as per the report. 

Meanwhile, presently, a total of 22 per cent of users pay for the games which are likely to touch 235 million in 2025.
