Jio has launched a game controller that you can use with tablets, TVs, and phones. The controller is priced at INR 3,499. The product is set to compete with the Xbox One official controller sold at INR 3,499, Xbox Series X official controller sold at INR 4,199, and other editions of the Sony PS5 and PS4 controllers, sold around INR 4000 and INR 5000 respectively.
The Jio Game Controller follows the asymmetrical 20-button Xbox controller layout. This translates to the left analogue stick being placed above the four directional buttons on the left. Meanwhile, in the Sony PlayStation-style layout, the left analogue stick is placed below the directional buttons.
The interactable buttons include two shoulder keys on the left, two on the right, a Jio button in the middle with a select and start button on either side. There is also a back key, a home key, and a TV key on the bottom of the controller.
The company claims that the controller has a connectivity range of up to 10 metres through the featured Bluetooth v4.1 technology that supports low latency. The Lithium-ion battery is said to offer up to 8 hours of backup charge.
This controller is also equipped with two vibration feedback motors and supports haptic control. The controller measures 153x58x110mm in dimensions and weighs about 200g.
Jio suggests that the controller is compatible with Android smartphones, tablets, Android TV and the Jio Set Top Box. However, due to limited Bluetooth connectivity and the lack of a wireless dongle or USB type-C port, it does not support PCs, Laptops, and consoles, out of the box.
