Infinix Hot 30 5G is competing in a hyper-competitive segment. The smartphone was launched by the brand to cater to consumers who want a budget 5G smartphone with the speed and efficiency that get would get in a 5G smartphone over INR 20,000. This budget-friendly 5G device comes in two variants –
- 4GB + 128GB, and
- 8GB + 128GB
The smartphone is priced at INR 12,499 and 13,499, respectively. My review unit is 8GB RAM and a 128GB ROM variant. Here’s what I have to say after the unboxing.
Design
The body looks very premium. I’ve used the Infinix Note 30 5G as well and the Hot 30 5G continues the trend. The body has a clean finish and a very premium feel. The body is made of plastic but it doesn’t look that way at all. The fingerprint sensor (clubbed with the power button) is on the left-hand side along with the volume buttons. The device weighs over 200 grams and this might be an issue for some people.
Bonus: Infinix Hot 30 5G has retained the good old 3.5mm audio port. So, great news for audiophiles.
Camera
The camera unit on the Infinix Hot 30 5G follows the trend seen these days in the case of smartphones. The phone has a dual camera set-up with the star of the show being a 50-megapixel sensor. The second one is an AI sensor. The primary camera takes good clicks in daylight but not so much in low-light conditions.
On the front, we have an 8-megapixel selfie camera along with an LED flash. The selfie camera seemed sub-par at best but there wasn’t much expectation from this device in the first place in terms of camera prowess. The LED flash on the front is innovative but doesn’t seem to have any real-world usage.
Display
The display looks decent and responsive. The peak brightness of the screen (580 nits) is sufficient for all indoor conditions. The 20.5:9 aspect ratio really impressed me. The display is truly one of this phone’s highlights. As far as pixel density goes (396 ppi), Infinix has done a good job with the Hot 30. The 120Hz refresh rate is a great add-on and so is the Widewine L1 certification. The slim bezels, big screen and pixel density all come together in unison to create a good visual experience.
Operating System and Chipset
The phone runs on Android 13 and uses its own user interface, the XOS. The OS works smoothly and caused no distress whatsoever. The Mediatek Dimensity 6020 is a 5G-enabled chipset and works fluently in day-to-day usage and multitasking without any hiccups. Playing heavy games did feel a bit of a burden on the processor.
A big turn-off in the Hot 30 5G is the barrage of unwanted apps or bloatware, as they call it.
Audio
The phone also has stereo speakers so listening to music is a pleasant experience. Audio is loud and crisp and much better than expected from a smartphone that falls in this price bracket.
Battery
6,000mAh really has that ring to it, doesn’t it? The 18W fast charge leaves you wanting for more. With brands offering up to 80W fast charging these days, 18w seems like being shortchanged.
First Impressions
The Infinix Hot 30 5G is definitely a great choice for people who are looking for options under INR 15,000. With a combination of features that are in high demand these days, this smartphone is surely to grab a lot of attention. Despite the few areas where-in it lacks, the Hot 30 5G is a great contender in the under INR 15,000 5G phone segment.
